BASIC TROUBLE SHOOTING STEPS THAT PROVIDES HELPFUL INFORMATION IN HELPING YOU

DO NOT RESET MODEM !

Do you have dial tone on your telephone?   YES________NO ________

If you have a MODEM and are having difficulty in connecting to, or maintaining connection to the Internet:

What color are the lights on your modem?  GREEN________RED________

REBOOT MODEM/COMPUTER

  • Unplug electricity from the modem
  • Turn computer off at the tower – Wait 1 minute
  • Plug modem back into electricity
  • Turn computer on at the tower
  • Does a corded phone work when plugged into the jack where the modem is located?

SUGGESTION: Unplug modem from phone jack, plug in corded phone, wait 1 minute, check for dial tone.

If you have FIBER and are having difficulty in connecting to, or maintaining connection to the Internet:

  • Are all cables plugged in correctly and are not damaged in any way?
  • Check to see if there is power to the outlet for the power box (located in a garage or outside the home).
  • If there is no power at the outlet, push the reset button (power surges may trip and shut the outlet off).

**Be aware it may take a few minutes to power up**

Make sure the LED lights are all green. If there are none, this may indicate there is a power failure.
